Support Edit XHTML1 FSBO Pages

Warning: Most information you find on the internet or for that matter anywhere has a copyright. You should NEVER copy text, images or pictures from someone else's website and put in on yours unless you obtain the owner of the copyrights written permission first! Proceed editing your website at your own risk!

Please read this procedure completely prior to editing your website. This procedure is intended to present a guideline for editing the page. Considering the number of free and pay web editors available it is not practical to provide a step by step procedure for someone who does not know how to use their selected web page editing software.

If you are not comfortable posting homes to your website we can post them for you for $15/each or 3 at a time for $30. To order this service click here.

New websites come prepared to list the first 5 homes for sale by owner. Once you have some homes listed and anticipate a need for a second and third 5 home page contact us and we will add the pages for you.

Posting homes to your FSBO pages is a two step process, one preparing and loading the photos and two editing the page text.

STEP1 - PREPARING AND LOADING PHOTOS

FIGURE 1

Home For Sale By Owner 1 through 5 are all located on the same page. The graphic above shows the EXACT NAME that MUST be used for the main photo to display properly for Home for sale 2.

NOTE: file names are critical, they are all in lower case and must not be changed.

Each home for sale by owner page has five photos one for each of the homes for sale. Each main photo is connected to 10 additional photos for the same home. they are named home*a.jpg through home*j.jpg (where * represents the home number). Each of these photos will be displayed sequentially when a visitor is viewing this particular home. These pictures are stored in a directory called "homes-for-sale".

The main photo for each home (the one displayed on the page) is named home*.jpg (where *=the home number). for example if you name a photo home1.jpg it will be displayed as the main photo for Homes for sale 1, or if you name a photo home5b.jpg it will be displayed on Homes for sale 5 as the second photo shown.

The main pictures should be sized to 240 pixels wide. They will display properly if they are larger however the page load time will be slower. The exact size is not critical as the photos will be resized automatically when displayed on the page.

All of the other photos can be any size you choose as the light box image viewer used will automatically resize for each photos actual size. Bear in mind some visitors may still access you website using slower connections and larger photos take longer to upload. In any case you should try to keep the images under 600 pixels wide so that they will display correctly even when viewed on smaller monitors.

When adding new homes name the photo files properly and place the pictures in the "homes-for-sale" directory then transfer them to the server using an FTP program. Alternatively you can upload the pictures using the Site Admin Interface.

NOTE: Using FTP software may be a bit above your comfort level. We offer training by phone (at our standard hourly rate) if you need our assistance in setting up your FTP connection. Or if you prefer we can edit your pages for you. To order this service click here.

STEP 2 - EDITING THE PAGE TEXT - PRICE AND DESSCRIPTION

Connect to your website using your selected web editing program.

The pages containing the Homes for sale by owner are named:

homes-for-sale-by-owner.php
.
.
.
homes-for-sale-by-owner1.php
.
.

Please note: these pages may be named slightly differently due to optimization. If you can't locate the proper pages contact us by email explaining the problem.

Select the page you want to edit and open it. Edit the page. Edit the text on the page as needed then click "Put" or "Publish".

DO NOT MODIFY THE PICTURE FRAME IN ANY WAY. The picture frames have been setup to accept any size the pictures automatically and editing this area of the page may prevent the pictures from displaying properly.

If you find any errors in this explanation or have further questions please contact us.
